This morning I was blessed to see a large circle of students praying outside of the Defiance Junior High this morning for the nationwide "Meet Me at the Pole Day." This day brings like minded students together to pray for their school and community.

I would like to commend these students for taking time out of their hectic morning to remember God and to ask for his blessings on those around them. How awesome that they have the faith and courage to do so!

With God all things are possible and the ACLU will never be successful at completely removing prayer from the schools. Alleluia!

To get back to the original comment, school prayer has no place in america. Thank God for the ACLU for defending the Bill of Rights.

Oops... Hit the wrong button...

... It is a meaningful event to the CHRISTIAN students, an opportunity for them to come together with like-minded peers to share their common beliefs and to pray for their community. Defintely not a waste of time.

POWER TO THE PRAYERS!

See You at the Pole may mean nothing to non-Christians and that's ok. It is a meaningful event to the CHRISTIAN

Prayer has never been taken out of the schools. Students may pray individually. What is banned is teacher led, school mandated prayer. Our public schools are secular institutions........... If parents want teacher led, school mandated prayer then send the children to a private religious school.

"See you at the pole" is akin to "March for Jesus", etc, etc where Christians gather in numbers to remind everyone that they are still around. (ask the average non-Christian what they think of these gatherings.) IMO it is all a big waste of time.

Instead of pole gatherings, marches, etc...........how about acts of mercy and compassion.........things that make a difference? How about working towards health care for all? How about loving your neighbor and the "least of these." Such acts seem to be in short supply around NW Ohio.

Yes poorly made decisions were based on greed, but it was not because of a lack of prayer and faith. I am sure their are plenty greedy faithful people.

In mild support of letsgo's "backward opinion"
conservative christians have hindered our country's science education by their attack on evolution which is a foundation of biology. Also they try to sneak God into a science classroom.

Poorly made decisions based on greed, arrogance, etc... haved played a major role in the decline of our economy. Had more decisions been based on Christ's teachings, then this decline perhaps could have been avoided or at least lessened.

So our lack of faith and prayer has caused the decline of our economy? When the economy recovers, does that mean our prayer and faith has increased.

Letsgo has it backwards. It has been society turning it's back on prayer and faith that has allowed our students, economy, morals, etc... to decline.

Thankful we have students willing to stand up and share their faith. May they receive many blessings in return. = )

It has never been a goal to take prayer out of school. In fact people can pray any time they want in school as long as it doesn't disrupt others or the class. The goal has been to remove school led prayer and maintain the constitution (seperation of church and state). I personally always enjoyed praying in private.

Give me a break - it must be all that praying that has allowed our students to fall mercifully behind so many other nations' students in testing. Oh Hallelujah; striving for mediocrity is what we do best.
