The Elling Family Reunion was held Saturday, August 8, at the American Legion Annex in Napoleon, Ohio. A total of 115 descendents of Albert Elling and his wife, Ida Spoering Elling, attended from Ohio, Michigan, Arizona, California, Washington, Georgia, Texas, and Missouri. The family celebrated God's many blessings including the upcoming 90th birthday of Alma Elling Hicksted of Napoleon.
Highlights of the lunch and afternoon included the German table prayer led by Alfred Elling and his sister, Alma Hicksted; a display of genealogy, family photos, and wedding gowns; door prizes, games for all ages, and lively polka music.
Mike Norden emceed the trivia game and afternoon program, with Steve Hicksted and Tim Hausch contributing their humor.
