Master Steven Franz, Kimberly Franz and Emma Dill from Franz Karate of Bryan, Ohio traveled to the 2009 Space Coast National Karate Championships on August 1-2 as honored guest and Alumnus of the US National Martial Arts Team. The event took place at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Cocoa Beach, Florida and was attended by many of the top Masters of the Martial Arts in the US today. Master Franz taught a Kumite / Fighting Seminar featuring techniques of the old Masters from Okinawa and recieved accolades for his abilities and knowledge for an excellent seminar. During the event Master Franz, Kimberly Franz and Emma Dill were all delighted to be presented with Gold Belt Status awards as cherished Alumni in the Best of the Best within the US National Martial Arts Team. They each competed at the tournament hosted by Master James Webster of Palm Bay, Florida. Master Franz won 2nd place in Master's Kata and Kumite and 1st Place in Sword Fighting. Kimberly Franz won 3rd place in Black Belt Women's Kata and 1st Place in Sword Fighting. Emma Dill won 3rd place in Jr Black Belt Kata and Weapons and 1st place in Jr Black Belt Kumite. Master Franz also sat on a promotional board to review and recommend six people from all over the US to achieve Master rank in their respective arts.
