American Progressivism April 16, 2009 - 10:17 ET
Following is excerpts from the article "
I. Who were the Progressives, and why are they important?
R.J. Pestritto
Shipley Professor of the American Constitution at Hillsdale College
As I'll explain in my next piece, these Progressives wanted a thorough transformation in America's principles of government, from a government permanently dedicated to securing individual liberty to one whose ends and scope would change to take on any and all social and economic ills. Here's the order of the points we'll consider in the pieces to follow.
1) What did Progressives think about the American founding, and why did they want to eradicate its principles?
2) How did we get today's excessively powerful presidency from the Progressives?
3) What was the connection between Progressivism and Socialism? Were the Progressives actually Socialists?
4) What are some of the critical connections between Progressivism and what's going on in our country today?
SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION
If nationalized healthcare, energy tax/cap & trade, CAF‰ standards for car manufacturers, 2nd stimulus, and much more, (or even part of the change that government wants) actually happens, we should know what socialism is, because it should be evident, to everyone, that we are living in a socialist state. People have to tell their representatives that if they don't support the constitution they won't get re-elected " they will know what you're saying, and they will listen if this is heard enough times " even if your message is routed to them by staff.
Please go to Thomas.gov, and find what bills are in line to be passed, what bills are good/Constitutional and what bills are supporting government control. If you have questions, there are a lot of good representatives (that have excellent bills needing public support) who can help. Type the name of the bill in the search box on the Internet, and you'll probably find many links to find info. about the bill.
At Thomas.gov you can easily find your reps for the area code you type in, then you will get a page with their e-mails, phone numbers, and addresses. Tell them you won't vote for their re-election if they don't support bills that support Constitutional rights.
Comments, letters to editors, blogs, all can work for you, by getting your message to many people. If a congressman or senator in another state is supporting something unconstitutional, post his support of a bill on a newspaper blog in their district, to let people know what their rep. is doing.
WE CAN STOP THE MOUNTING SOCIALISTIC CHANGE ONLY BY LETTING REPS KNOW WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR THEIR RE-ELECTION IF THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION.
A Constitution supporter i.e. Tea Party supporter
The following gives some information about the Health care bill:

Comparative Effectiveness in Health Care Reform: Lessons from Abroad
The U.S. House of Representatives has just passed the $850 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (H.R. 1), the so-called economic stimulus bill, which would establish a Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research. The bill would provide $1.1 billion for the new council and delegate spending authority to the HHS Secretary to investigate the effectiveness of different drugs and medical devices.[3] The Senate version of the economic stimulus package contains a similar provision.
Of course, there is no reason why private-sector or government officials should not have access to the best information on what works and what doesn't. Nor is there any reason why such scientific evaluations should not be widely available to doctors and patients alike. But studies of the comparative effectiveness of medical devices, drugs, and technology should be conducted primarily within the private sector, and there should be no government monopoly over either the research or the distribution of information. The key issue is the personal freedom of patients to be able to choose the health care that, in the professional judgment of their doctors, best serves their personal needs
Please e-mail or call your senators to stop this bill that takes more tax money to fund more government control over a system that the government isn't presently efficiently managing.
www.thomas.gov will describe bills " clicking on Senate , then Senators will bring their e-mails
