As if we needed more evidence that our Community Organizer in Chief is hopelessly ideological, we see today that he plans on signing into law an expansion of the AmeriCorps program. This mis-named program has nothing to do with voluntary service to communities. Under it, people who agree to work in an approved program can earn a $500 to $1000 education award. Devious politicians like Mr. Obama and Bill Clinton (who started the program)call these people volunteers! I have a news flash for them; if someone gets a monetary reward for serving a program, they are not volunteers! What next, requiring people to volunteer for community work? That's not volunteering, either!!

The original comment made no judgement as to the value of community service or educational awards. The point of the comment was the deception being foisted on us by politicians intent on fooling as many people as they can. I simply meant that by their obvious lying to us, we can tell their true character. While this program might be a "win-win" situation for young people and communities, what about for the tax-payers? Are they getting the most for their money? We need more honesty and integrity from our elected representatives.

Since when are "voluntary service to communities" and earning a "$500 to $1000 education award" bad things?? I don't care if you call it volunteering or good business, only a sore loser would be against a win-win program for our communities and our young people.
