From Rush Limbaugh to President Obama, from Sean Hannity to Rosie O'Donnel,From Bill Maher to former President Bush. They were ALL wrong when they call these United States a"Democracy"It is obvious that these famous, educated people never studied the teachings of our Founding Fathers. Here are a few quotes from some of our Founding Fathers on democracy.
"A democracy is nothing more thanmob rule,where51% of the people take away the rights of the other 49%." Thomas jefferson
"Remember democracy never lasts long.It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." John Adams in a letter to John Taylor,April 15,1814.
"Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science,to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few." John Adams An Essay on Mans Lust for Power,August 28,1763
"Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention;have ever been found incompatible with personal security,or the rights of property;and have,in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."James Madison Federalist No.#10,November 23,1787

The writer has a point to the degree that our governmental system is not a democracy. The U.S. is a Republic. We are governed by elected officials, not by majority rule.

There is a faulty notion among many Americans that the majority should get whatever they want.

We rely on our elected officials to act in our best interests. When they don't we throw them out of office.

With all due respect and I mean no offense to anyone, but quotes are just that "quotes" taken out of context, they can mean anything to anyone depending upon interpretation. And since not of us were there, I don't think we can assume we knew what their meaning or intention was.

I would contend that they are/were educated enough to know how to use proper punctuation.
Also, what exactly is your point here?
