Mark Froelich - 'Evolution of Dance' still a YouTube hit

Mark Froelich
June 24, 2009

Judson Laipply's YouTube sensation titled "Evolution of Dance" has amassed 121,710,964 views since it was posted in 2006.

His follow-up -- "Evolution of Dance 2" -- was posted on YouTube in January and is up to around 6,158,168 views.

Laipply is a graduate of Bluffton University, and also holds a Master's degree from Bowling Green State University. The inspirational speaker goes to high schools, colleges or wherever to present his message -- this is where he includes his "Evolution of Dance" routine.

If you've never seen Laipply's YouTube videos, let me provide you a quick overview: He simply takes portions of songs and dances to each one. Most of his dance routines are funny, but the clever part here is how he can take up to 32 songs (like on the first "Evolution of Dance") and pack it into a six-minute video with continuous dancing and transitioning.

Is "Evolution of Dance 2" better than "Evolution of Dance 1"? I'll let you decide that.

Meanwhile, I want to point you to Laipply's home page at www.theevolutionofdance.com where you should click on the links at the top of the page titled "about Jud" and "faq's" to learn more about him and booking information.

Want to watch the videos? You can find them on YouTube, or Laipply's home page, but I would ask you play the video at http://blogs.dixcdn.com/caught_in_the_web/?p=245

Current technology ownership

A poll found a significant jump in the Nintendo Wii in 2009 (as compared to 2008) and also indicates that the PlayStation3 needs some help to catch up to the same Wii numbers. (PlayStation's ability to play Blu-ray will certainly help.)

CrunchGear.com posted an article related to this poll, and included a nice graphic showing all of the percentage data. View the story and graphic at www.crunchgear.com/2009/06/22/poll-finds-that-physical-media-is-dying-hd-dvd-as-popular-as-blu-ray/

Greatest places in the USA

The 100 Greatest Places in the USA are listed, according to the website StoodThere.com ... and a place in Colorado was No. 1 on the list.

Great song, great message

Trace Adkins's song "You're Gonna Miss This" has a great message for parents and kids. Adkins definitely gives it a country twang, but the words are inspirational. Watch the video at http://blogs.dixcdn.com/caught_in_the_web/?p=225

100 million views

The Visible Measures Blog has a popular feature: It lists the "100 Million Views Club" on its site.

What is amazing to me is how many music videos are included on the list. Six of the top 10 on the "Million Views Club" are music videos; two are movie trailers.

At No. 6 is Jeff Dunham's "Achmed the Dead Terrorist" video, which is posted on YouTube and has nearly 200 million views. This 10-minute comedy routine can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwOL4rB-go

However, be warned that Dunham's comedy routine includes adult humor and language. If you are not offended by this, Dunham's YouTube page at www.youtube.com/user/jeffdunham?blend=1&ob=4 is loaded with funny clips from his routines.
