Numerous Defiance students were named recipients of scholarships from the Defiance City Schools Foundation.
Earning Claude W. Henkle Memorial Scholarships are Meghan Rogers and Zachary Wiles. Rogers will attend Capital University and major in vocal music education. Wiles will be attending Boise State University to study secondary history.
Continuing scholarship awards for 2009 were given to Brittni Engel to continue studying early childhood at Coastal Carolina University; Lauren Fett, to return to Ohio University in the fall to study special education; Brittany Bryant, to continue studying early childhood at the University of Toledo; Anita Schlatter, majoring in Spanish with a minor in math education at the University of Toledo; Courtney Monk, to continue her music studies at Anderson University; and Brianna Stoyer, who returns to Otterbein College where she majors in art education.
Meghan Rogers is also the recipient of the Marie Kauser Memorial Scholarship.
Receiving the Mathew Scholarship is Mark Sebring, who plans to attend Kettenring University in the fall.
Jordan Gonzales was chosen as the recipient of the Garrit Nixon Football Scholarship for his leadership on the football field. He will attend Sacramento State in California.
Diandra Lopez was chosen as the recipient of the Jordan C. Shirey Memorial DECA Scholarship. Taylor Keel will receive the Jordan C. Shirey Memorial Soccer Scholarship.
Both students will attend Bowling Green State University in the fall.
