Oprah Winfrey removes BeBe Winans off her show NEW YORK (AP) -- Oprah Winfrey is removing gospel singer BeBe Winans from her show's "karaoke challenge" until charges against him for allegedly pushing his ex-wife to the ground are resolved. Winans appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" last week and was seen in promos for future appearances. Now he'll be cut out of the segment, said Winfrey spokesman Don Halcombe on Thursday. Winfrey was criticized by some bloggers this week for including Winans after she had taken a strong stand against domestic violence earlier this year. She did a show on the topic when singer Chris Brown assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Suicide prevention groups protesting 'The Office' NEW YORK (AP) -- Last week's episode of "The Office" where Steve Carell's character tries to scare children by faking a hanging has disturbed suicide prevention groups. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other mental health organizations are asking NBC to be more sensitive. They worry that the graphic depiction of Carell struggling in a hangman's noose might encourage mentally ill people to take their own lives. Green Day agrees to play at Carson Daly's New Year's Eve NEW YORK (AP) -- Green Day already has New Year's Eve plans: They'll be ringing in 2010 with Carson Daly. The punk-rock trio are slated to perform during "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly." The show is to air live from Times Square. Green Day's latest CD "21st Century Breakdown" features "21 Guns."
