Defiance County commissioners conducted their annual snow plow inspection during their Thursday meeting.

Commissioners held the inspection at the county highway garage off Ohio 15 next to the county airport.

They also toured the new salt storage building there that will hold more than one year's storage. According to commissioners, this will enable the engineer to purchase salt when prices are more advantageous.

In another matter, county administrator Laura Howell informed commissioners that the wastewater operations department has moved to the county-owned KeyBank building on Second Street. The department had been located in the courthouse annex at Second and Wayne Avenue.

The customer entrance is at the back of the building. The hours and contact information for the department will remain the same, Howell said.

She also reported that the county records center handled 1,440 records requests and indexed 16,846 images of commissioners' resolutions.

Commissioners met with Dave Martin and Carol Sines of the Defiance County Fair Board to discuss capital improvements for the fairgrounds in Hicksville.

They discussed maintenance work on county-owned buildings. Commissioners would like the fair board to compose a list detailing its plans.

Also, commissioners received Recorder Cecilia Parsons' October report.

She reported 131 deeds, 192 mortgages, 206 releases, 13 powers of attorney and two leases. Receipts totaled $25,926.75, of which $12,667 went to the housing trust fund and $11,135.75 went to the general fund.
