Pre-Marital Class for Couples -- Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 12402 Fullmer Rd., starts Saturday, 10-11:30 a.m. This class for couples contemplating marriage is a six-session program meeting every other week. Class is free. For more information, contact Rev. Ken Rupert 419-297-3530.

Community Picnic -- Junction Bible Christian Church, Junction, Saturday, 3-8 p.m. Food, fun and games for all ages. Horse-driven hayrides by Classic Country Belgians. Wiener roast. Live music by Charity Moore and the Big Ugly Boys.

Ice Cream Social -- Melrose United Methodist Church, just south of Ohio 613, Melrose (2 miles east of Oakwood), Saturday, 4-7 p.m. Sandwiches, salads, desserts, ice cream and beverages Free-will offering.

Dinner Theater -- Grace United Methodist Church, 121 W. High St., Hicksville, Saturday and Sunday, 6:15 p.m. both nights. "Murder, Mayhem, and Marshmallow Salad" is a dinner and comedy murder mystery with surprising characters and plot twists. Great food and a great cast! Special Speaker -- First Church of Christ, 800 Glenwood Ave., Napoleon, Sunday, 9:30 a.m. Guest speaker is David Poling, missionary for Reaching the Billion, Inc. He has been working for many years in Hong Kong and other parts of China. Following the service, he will give a presentation in the fellowship hall at 10:45 a.m.

"Trinity" Gospel Concert -- Mandale Church, Ohio 66, Mandale, Sunday, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Henry County CROP Walk -- Starts and ends at Oakwood Park, 1400 Oakwood Drive, Napoleon, Sunday, 2 p.m. (registration begins at 1:30 p.m.). Area churches, youth groups, service clubs and other organizations are invited to participate in groups. Local proceeds will be divided among Christmas Cheer and five local food banks in the county. Elvis is in the House -- St. John Lutheran Church, (corner of U.S. 6 and Ohio 66), rural Archbold, Sunday, 6:30 p.m. Elvis impersonator Robert Rosencrantz from Toledo will take you back to the rock n' roll era. Free-will offering.

Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University -- Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren, Wednesday, 6 p.m. This life-changing class on personal finance continues at same time every Wednesday for 13 weeks. Car Show -- Paulding Church of the Nazarene, 210 Dooley Drive, Oct. 3, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This event is a fund-raiser for the church youth group (grades 7-12). Food, fun and prizes. Cars, motorcycles, trucks and tractors welcome. Registration is $10 per vehicle.

Bake Sale & Country Store -- Ayersville United Methodist Church, Oct. 3, 12-7:30 p.m. Start your gift shopping early with many items available for fall and Christmas. Country store also features homemade noodles, apple butter, breads, caramel corn and apples, chocolates, baked goods, and much more. Door prizes, everyone welcome.

Chicken Barbecue by Harlan's -- Ayersville United Methodist Church, 27728 Ayersville Rd., Oct. 3, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Carry-out available. Menu includes one-half barbecue chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, roll, homemade pie/cake and drink for $7.50. Welsh Festival of Song -- Gomer United Church of Christ, 7350 Gomer Road, Gomer, Oct. 4, 7 p.m. Wales native Trefor Williams, now of Milwaukee will return as director and Nancy Glick will serve as harpist. Guest soloist is Katie Sunderland, recent music education graduate of Ohio State University. Light supper prepared by Welsh Society of Northwest Ohio available from 4:30-6 p.m. Gomer Welsh Community Museum will be open from 4-7 p.m. Everyone welcome.

"Sharing Bread" Gathering -- Ponderosa Restaurant, Defiance, Oct. 6, 5:30 p.m. Area residents who are hurting for any reason are invited to attend this very informal gathering for coffee, dessert or a full meal. Persons are responsible for the cost of their food and beverage. There is no set agenda. Greeters are Diane Mayer and Judy Sauer.
