FINDLAY -- Seven historic downtown churches in Findlay are opening their doors for a unique opportunity to look inside each of the beautiful locations. Findlay has an array of churches that were established as early as the mid 1800's. The architecture details both inside and outside of the seven churches is exquisite. Picturesque stained glass windows with intrigue detail await tourists. Historians will greet visitors and explain details of each location. Live music, slide show, a horse and wagon ride and refreshments will be available to visitors. The self-guided tour will be Oct. 11 from 1-5 p.m. The churches included on the tour are: -- First Presbyterian Church, built in 1955, located at 2330 S. Main St., this church has a large steeple visible for miles. -- First Lutheran Church, 109 E. Lincoln St., was built in 1941; this church has stained glass windows from its original building dating back to the late 1800's. First Lutheran has one of the areas largest organs (to date, the largest this side of the Mississippi). -- Trinity Episcopal, 128 W. Hardin St., built in 1883 will please visitors when viewing the stained glass windows throughout. Join church members for a cup of English tea before boarding the horse and wagon ride to the next stop. -- St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., built in 1866, St. Andrew's is one of the areas oldest and largest churches. The stained glass windows and unique stained glass ceilings glimmer throughout the sanctuary. -- St. Michael's the Archangel, 617 W. Main St., features a cross built in 1866 and statues that align the sanctuary. -- First Christian Church 620 N. Main St., the 95-year-old church has large stained glass windows that align the north side of the building. -- College First Church of God, 1100 N. Main St., was built in 1950 and hosts unique beamed ceiling and beautiful stained glass details. Tickets are available by calling the Hancock Christian Clearing House at 419-422-2222; Art's Partnership, 419-422-4624; Main Street News, Stately Raven Book Store or any of the churches on the tour. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children (ages 5-12). Church groups and tour buses are welcome to attend. Guided tours will be available for groups of 25 or more if requested by Sept. 30.
