Attending were new members Kim Barratt from AmeriCare and Dawn Ludwig from Twin Rivers. A light lunch was served to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the heart health coalition.

The coalition heard reports on the Action for Healthy Kids Zone 1, with Sandy Kessler speaking about the Lifeskills program, and about a school health workshop held at Archbold High School that focused on information for school food service workers.

Members continued their plans for the seventh annual Heart Health Fair set for Sept. 24. The topics this year will be nutrition, weight loss and cardiovascular health.

Activities planned by member agencies include AmeriCare assisting at Relay for Life of Defiance, which will take place on June 19-20 at the Ayersville High School track. Other relays set for that weekend include Hicksville and Henry and Williams counties.

The YMCA is planning several summer camps including horse camps during the weeks of June 15 and Aug. 10, and fun camps with a western theme during the weeks of July 13 and 20. Safety Town is set for June 22-26.

The health department will host Kids Camp on June 16-19, for children ages 5-10 years old.

The health department also hosted the Healthy Ohio Fitness Walk on May 20.

The next hearth health meeting will be on Tuesday, July 14, at 12 p.m. at the health department.
