An assortment of 12 beautiful gardens are on the "Gardens in Progress 2009" garden tour in Putnam County on June 13 and 14.

Sponsored by the Putnam County Master gardeners, the tour takes place on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sunday, June 14, from 1-5 p.m.

There will also be a number of vendors at some of the gardens on the tour. They will be selling garden-related products including items such as gourd birdhouses, concrete garden leaves and plaques.

The charge for the tour is $1 per garden per person.

Gardens on the tour include: The garden of Diane and Gary Miller at 20360 Road 24, Fort Jennings, which is a Certified National Wildlife Area and has a woodland garden with hostas; the garden of Jim and Deb Croy at 404 N. Maple St., Ottawa, with two ponds and heirloom gardens; Doris and Larry Heiing's garden, 113 E. Willow Run, Ottawa, who have two ponds with waterfalls and lots of koi fish; and the garden of Sue and Jeff Christman, 805 E. Main St., Leipsic, who have a pool, mass plantings of tiger and daylilies, hostas and rhododendrens.

More information on the garden tour can be found at www.putnam.osu.edu., where visitors can see a virtual tour of the gardens.
