BOWLING GREEN -- Donald Oberlin, Payne, was one of 18 alumni honored by the Bowling Green State University Alumni Association as accomplished graduates during a spring awards banquet. Oberlin is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council; Building Green, a group dedicated to connecting architects, builders, developers and end-users of sustainable construction; Sustainable Construction and Planning, and the Green Building Councils of Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana. Selected for this honor, Oberlin received a bachelor of education degree from BGSU in 1969, which he used to teach high school industrial arts and ultimately pioneer more energy-efficient construction technology. He is a founding shareholder of National Solarcrete Inc., his latest endeavor in a lifetime of construction experience. He has been developing construction techniques at a professional level for more than 30 years. In 2002, Oberlin joined a fellow Solarcrete contractor and developer in the Chicago area and another investor to form National Solarcrete Inc. The company is gaining market share to promote the energy-saving benefits of Solarcrete with a wider client base, and further develop its technology. Comments
