BRYAN -- The Fountain City Christian School honored local veterans on Tuesday.

Speaking to the students was Steve Jennings, while teacher Joel Johnston demonstrated some of his military gear to the students. Jennings is a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War and Johnston is a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Desert Storm.

Student and staff representatives of family members having served the U.S. in various conflicts included World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Desert Storm and current involvement.

Following the presentations, Jennings and Johnston were presented with certificates of appreciation and recognition for having served their country.

All students also baked and decorated cookies and delivered them along with a note of appreciation to veteran residents of a local nursing home.

Older students spent part of the afternoon watching the Disney film "Tiger Cruise," which portrayed the significance and sacrifice of the members of the U.S. military.
