DC swimmers usher in new era


The Defiance College women's swimming and diving team recorded a win in its very first competition in the program's history. DC hosted a dual meet against Alma and Ursuline.

DC defeated Ursuline by a score of 66.00 to 15.00 and was defeated by Alma by a total of 71.00 to 34.00.

Yellow Jacket freshman Emilee Boleyn had a great showing for the first meet of the year. Boleyn won both of the individual events that she competed in and helped DC to a second place finish in the relay she was in.

Another noteworthy performance on the afternoon was the one of Jacqueline Loock, who recorded a first and second place finish. Loock won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.93 and was runner-up in the 1,000 yard freestyle posting a time of 12:05.83.

Meanwhile, the DC men's team competed in its first ever meet in program history vs. Alma.

Ben Werbiskis was first in the 100 breaststroke.

Jacob Stuber placed first in the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions.

DC was overmatched by Alma College. The Jackets were defeated in the meet by a score of 129.00 to 43.00.
