Napoleon, Continental, Kalida win in boys soccer


The Napoleon boys soccer team defeated Bryan 4-2 during Division II sectional final action on Tuesday at Defiance.

Tommy Brown scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Wildcats, who advance to play Ottawa-Glandorf on Thursday in district semifinals action at Ottoville at 6:30 p.m. Jordan Lauf also scored a pair of goals for Napoleon.

Peter Thongpasouk paced the Golden Bears with a goal and an assist.

At Continental, the Pirates of Continental got the winning goal from Dakota Scott at the 9:56 mark of overtime to defeat Bluffton, 2-1 in the Division III district semifinals.

Austin Geckle also scored for Continental (7-7-2) in the win over Bluffton (9-8-1). Continental advances to the district finals to face No. 1-ranked Ottawa Hills on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Toledo Central Catholic High School.

At Kalida, Ian Richey and Cody Schnipke each scored goals to lift Kalida past Archbold 2-1 in the D-III district semifinals. Schnipke's game-winner came in the 67th minute.

The Wildcats (15-2) move on to the district finals to face Lima Central Catholic on Saturday at Wapakoneta at 11 a.m.

David Bontrager scored for Archbold, which bows out of tournament play at 13-3.
