Friday Football Roundup: Napoleon keeps playoff hopes alive

SYLVANIA --Napoleon kept its hopes of reaching the postseason alive with a 38-0 win over Sylvania Northview.

Skyler Anderson had a pair of touchdown runs for the Wildcats, now 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the Northern Lakes League, while the defense scored a pair of TDs, one on a Tyler Miller interception return and the other on a Bryant Schlade fumble return.

The Wildcats finished with 201 yards rushing, 76 by Anderson and 73 by Schlade, and 267 yards of total offense. Northview (3-6, 1-5 NLL) was held to 162 yards of offense while committing three turnovers.

Napoleon completes regular-season play on Friday at home against Bowling Green and needs a win to have any chance of finishing in the top eight of Division III Region 10.

ANTWERP--Antwerp topped Ayersville 26-21 to earn their first victory of the season.

Tom Taylor lead the way for the Archers (1-8, 1-5 GMC) with 189 yards on the ground and 260 yards through the air and four scores. Corbin Jones and Andy Coleman each had two touchdown receptions.

D..J. Hagerman paced the way for the Pilots (2-7, 0-6 GMC) with seven catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Flory chipped in with 104 yards on the ground and a score.

HAVILAND -- Fairview scored 43 unanswered points to take a 36-point lead (43-7) but still had to withstand a Wayne Trace fourth-quarter rally to earn a 49-42 triumph.

In a game that featured nearly 900 yards of combined offense, Fairview (4-5, 4-2 GMC) scored on plays of 53, 87, 44 and 57 yards while also using a 25-yard Isaac Valle interception return for a TD in its huge 36-point second stanza.

The Apaches added to their 36-7 halftime advantage with QB Andy Guilford opening the second-half scoring with a 60-yard scamper to the end zone.

Wayne Trace's Austin Speice stopped Fairview's scoring spree with a pick-six but Jeffrey Timbrook countered with a 70-yard run just 15 ticks later to give the Apaches a hefty 49-14 lead with 7:17 left in the third quarter.

The Raiders (4-5, 2-4 GMC) responded with four straight touchdowns - the last by Colby Speice with 4:31 remaining in the game - but Fairview denied Wayne Trace's comeback attempt.

Guilford ran for 169 yards to lead the Apaches.

Dylan Horner had 151 yards rushing for the Raiders.

Sean Westhoven led the Tigers (9-0, 7-0 NWOAL) with 137 yards rushing and two touchdowns while Tony Bais added 102 yards on the ground.

The Tigers head to Archbold on Friday with the outright league crown at stake.

Shelton Lillich had 29 yards receiving and a score to pace the Panthers (2-7, 1-6 NWOAL).

CELINA--Elida blanked Celina 56-0 in Western Buckeye League action.

Reggie McAdams was 20-23 passing for 333 yards and four touchdowns to pace Elida (6-3, 5-3 WBL). Austin Etzler chipped in with 148 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Celina (1-8, 1-7 WBL) was held to just 168 total yards on the night.

ST. MARYS -- St. Marys outscored Van Wert 20-0 in the second half for a 34-14 WBL victory.

D.J. Manning led the Roughriders (4-5, 3-5 WBL) with 155 yards rushing and three touchdowns while Tre Sherman ran the ball once for a 71-yard touchdown.

Terrance Branson caught four passes for 61 yards and a score to pace the Cougars (0-9, 0-8 WBL).
