Napoleon upsets Perrysburg, 34-15

PERRYSBURG -- Napoleon picked up an impressive 34-15 win over Perrysburg, knocking the Yellow Jackets out of the Northern Lakes League title chase.

"Our ability to work the run and pass effectively on the offensive side stood out," noted Napoleon coach Tory Strock. "He hit some short stuff and then went over the top to (Tyler) Miller and (Jordan) Myles for touchdowns."

Jacob Plassman was 10-of-18 passing for 154 yards to lead the Wildcats, which led 21-0 at half helped out by TD runs from Bryant Schlade and Skyler Anderson.

"Jacob Plassman was poised tonight," Strock noted about his senior quarterback. "When they did get pressure on him he stood in the pocket and we made catches. Our backs also ran hard. And our defense rose to the occasion when it had to. It was just a total team effort.

"The kids believed," added Strock, whose team snapped a two-game losing streak. "This win was about the kids and they earned it. This speaks volumes about our program and the type of kids we have and about my assistant coaches. It encapsulates what our program's about. We learned life lessons tonight about how to handle and overcome adversity which is a pretty big lesson."

Napoleon, which improved to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the NLL, outgained Perrysburg (5-3, 3-2 NLL) 289-203. Schlade led the ground attack with 82 yards on 24 carries while Anderson added 59 yards on 15 attempts. Myles had three receptions for 74 yards and Miller five catches for 64 yards.
