WILMINGTON -- The Defiance College men's cross country team captured 10th-place overall in the 26-team field at the Wilmington College Invitational. Senior Justin Perkins paced Defiance with a time of 26:17.19 to finish the event in 20th.
Placing 28th overall was sophomore Joe Davis, who ended the day with a time of 26:28.98. Freshman Josh Hilton ran a race time of 27:05.18, while sophomore Madison Murphy came in at 27:16.30. Junior Hayden Krick ended the scoring for the Yellow Jackets with a time of 27:56.93.
The Defiance College women's cross country team was led by senior Ellen Stryffeler at the Wilmington Invitational. Stryffeler finished 38th in the 241-runner field with a time of 20:01.63.
The DC harriers took 20th overall at the event which featured teams from all NCAA divisions. Freshman Bri Rodriguez posted a time of 21:20.46 to place 82nd overall. Sophomore Kate Busto finished with a time of 21:42.68, and junior Erika DeBos was close behind at 22:08.23. Finishing the scoring for Defiance was freshman Marissa Brussard at 24:36.78.
The DC harriers will return to the course on Saturday, when it competes at the HCAC championships hosted by Anderson University.
