No. 8 LC beats No. 9 Ridgewood

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Sean Westhoven scored three touchdowns to lead No. 8 Liberty Center past No. 9 Ridgewood on Saturday at General Stadium in a battle of Division V powers, 28-14.

Westhoven scored on a 1-yard and an 11-yard run and also caught a pass from Bryan Hefflinger for 35-yard touchdown for the Tigers (7-0), which gave the visitors a 21-0 lead 3:32 into the second half.

On the day, Westhoven carried 30 times for 194 yards while Anthony Righi had three touches for 58 yards.

Ridgewood rallied back with Trent Lingo hitting paydirt with 2:48 left in the third quarter. Dakota Albertson then connected with Chris Saylor for a 36-yard scoring strike with 6:21 left in the game.

But Righi sealed the game with a 45-yard jaunt with 1:29 to go and a commanding 28-14 lead.

Trent Lingo paced the Generals (6-1) with 10 rushes for 67 yards. Ridgewood had won 27 straight regular season games before Saturday's loss and has also made the playoffs for eight straight years.
