Demolition of old Defiance Hospital may happen soon
By TODD HELBERG
Demolition of the old Defiance Hospital on East Second Street could take place within weeks.
Defiance Hospital Inc. and its managing partner ProMedica Health Systems are responsible for contracting for the facilitys demolition, according to an agreement approved this fall by Defiance City Council. (The property is owned by City Hall but was leased to Defiance Hospital, Inc. and ProMedica before the new Defiance Regional Medical Center opened on Ralston Avenue.)
Defiance Hospital, Inc./ProMedica recently sent out requests for proposals among demolition contractors and received six responses, according to John Horns, president of Defiance Regional Medical Center.
