LEIPSIC Investigations are continuing today into a fire that killed a local resident and destroyed two homes Saturday night. Robert Norway, 42, of 10 W. Sugar St., was pronounced dead at St. Ritas Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf, where he was taken after he was found just inside the front door of his neighbors home at 18 W. Sugar St., according to Putnam County Sheriff James Beutler. The neighbor, Richard Rikard, was out of town when the fire was discovered. Calls to the countys E-911 center around 7:50 p.m. sent firefighters to the Sugar Street houses. One of those callers reported hearing an explosion before seeing the Norway and Rikard homes ablaze. Beutler said the fire started in Rikards garage.
