By TODD HELBERG
Although the fate of Defiances fire-damaged Johns Manville plant is uncertain, city council did what it could Tuesday night to promote reconstruction.
Council passed an ordinance, 6-1, offering free water and sewer service to the plant if its rebuilt. An ordinance accepting the final plat of a subdivision on South Jefferson Avenue also passed, 5-2, before council continued discussions about long-term infrastructure planning. The latter topic included a presentation by city historian Randy Buchman.
