Genealogists: Oct. banquet to feature Civil War buff from Tiffin

The banquet of Defiance County Chapter of Ohio Genealogy Society will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 925 Webster St.

Guest speaker will be Mark Young, director and curator of the American Civil War Museum of Ohio in Tiffin.

Young is board president and director of operations at the museum and serves on the Tiffin Seneca Heritage Festival board. He has been a Civil War buff since childhood and a collector of Civil War artifacts and memorabilia.

He has served as president of the 14th Ohio Civil War reenacting unit and has also served on the board of Friends and Descendants of Johnson's Island Civil War Prison.

New members of the First Families of Defiance County will be inducted following the banquet meal.
