Reunion gathers AHS Class of 1961

AYERSVILLE -- Ayersville High School Class of 1961 recently hosted its 50th class reunion weekend.

Several classmates attended the Ayersville-Edgerton homecoming game on Friday evening. Saturday's events included breakfast at Kissner's, a tour of the old Skylark Club on Clinton St., a tour of Ayersville High School, and the reunion dinner at Black Lantern restaurant.

The group also collectively attended the memorial service at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church for Dr. Robert Hoellrich, a former classmate who recently died in Oregon.

Twenty-one of the 43 classmates were in attendance.

Four classmates are deceased.

Attending from out of town were the following:

Sam and Deb Cabral, Sarasota, Fla.; John and Mary Ann (Waldman) Dray, Delphos; Fred Barnes and guest, Angola, Ind.; Dale and Janet (Sickmiller) Chitwood, Leesburg, Fla.; Jim and Carol Zachrich, Continental; Darrell and Peggy Blanchard, West Liberty; and Dave and Karen (Zedaker) Rosser, Punta Gorda, Fla.

Attending from Defiance were: Lewis Myers, Jim and Mary (Glore) Call, Bob Zimmerman, Jim and Theresa Kile, Harry and Cheryl Hahr, Mary Lou (Vance) Lloyd, George and Carol Retcher, Barbara (Korhn) Warncke, Susan (Fickel) Hitchcock and Dave Daoust, Bart and Jane (Colwell) Scott, Virg and Pam (Kemper) Linebrink, Bill and Meda Deepe, and Joe and Judy Lenhart.

The planning committee included Pam and Virg Linebrink, Susan Hitchcock, Jane Scott, Bill Deepe, and Barbara Warncke.

The next reunion will be held in five years.
