Military: Navy Seaman receives early promotion

GREAT LAKES, Ill. -- Navy Seaman Taylor Hatcher was recently promoted to her current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Hatcher received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.

Training included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.

An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations."

This exercise gives recruits like Hatcher the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet.

Hatcher, a 2010 graduate of Paulding High School, is the daughter of Jill and Sam Hatcher, Cecil.

GREAT LAKES, Ill. -- Navy Seaman Recruit David Sabini recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Sabini completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.

An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Sabini, at 2008 graduate of Maumee High School, Maumee, is the son of Vicky Sabini of Wauseon, and David Sabini, Maumee.
