Bra Project looks on less-serious side of breast cancer

By DARLENE PRINCE prince@crescent-news.com Published:

Area women are being asked to bring their artistically-decorated bras to Biggby Coffee on North Clinton Street in Defiance for the American Cancer Society's Bra Project and auction benefit.

The bras will be put on display as an artsy and 'uplifting' exhibit to raise breast cancer awareness during October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Several bras are on display now, but more bras are needed. Proceeds from the Bra Project and the auction will go later to the American Cancer Society, where it will be used for research and to assist area people with cancer.

The public is invited to stop and look at the bras, and vote for their favorite one.

All bras will be available to be purchased for a minimum donation of $15 to "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" at Okuley's Lady's Boutique in Defiance. Donations to the project will also be accepted.

All bra artists will receive a card for a free beverage of their choice, compliments of Biggby Coffee. The bras will be at Biggby Coffee through Oct. 31.

For more information about the Bra Project, call Annette Kuhlman at the Lady's Boutique at 419-784-4800.
