McCLURE -- George F. Wells, Sr. 86, of McClure, Ohio, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born March 4, 1927, in Richfield Township, Ohio, to the late Roy and Bernice (May) Wells. On September 28, 1946, he married Lucille (Orwig) Wells at United Brethren Church, McClure.
George worked as a supervisor for Hoffman Eggs, McClure, assistant manager for Napoleon Eggs, and retired from Maumee Valley Vending, Napoleon. He was a former volunteer fireman for Liberty Washington Township Fire Department, served in the United States Navy during World War II, and a member of the McClure American Legion Post 332.
He is survived by wife, Lucille; son, George "Frank" (Elaine) Wells, Jr. of Napoleon; twin daughters, Diane Elling of Napoleon and Donna (Randy) Rosebrock of Defiance; grandchildren, George "Joe" (Charlene) Wells III, Elizabeth (Ryan) Thompson, John Elling, Paul Elling, and Amanda (Kenneth) Westrick; great-grandchildren, Florence, Scarlett, George IV and Brooks Wells; Madison, Max and Gregor Thompson; Gavin Elling; Haley, Grady and Luke Westrick.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Maurice Wells.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Rodenberger Funeral Home, McClure, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. Interment will follow at Hockman Cemetery, McClure, where military honors will be accorded by the McClure American Legion Post.
