NAPOLEON -- Edna Witte, 95, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
She was born December 22, 1917, in Deshler, Ohio, to the late J. Henry and Maria (Seedorf) Tietje. On May 5, 1940, she married Leonard Witte at Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, Ohio. Edna was a homemaker and farm wife. Prior to her marriage, Edna cared for many young families and expecting mothers in their homes. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon.
Edna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; children, Evelyn (Noble) Rye, Robert (LaDonna) Witte, Ken (Ann) Witte, James (Anne) Witte; daughter-in-law, Noreen Witte; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Olga Tietje, Mildred (Donald) Hahn; and brother, Martin (Luetta) Tietje.
She was preceded in death by son, Raymond; sister, Esther Schuette; and brothers, Bernhard, Arnold and Henry Tietje.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with Pastor Peter Marcis, Pastor John Holyer and Pastor Charles Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation will be from 1:30-8 p.m. on Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
