LONGMONT, Colo. -- Virginia Spangler, 96, died on Feb. 9, 2013, in Longmont, Colo., at her residence, The Regent.
She was born Nov. 24, 1916, in Highland Township, Defiance County. Her parents were Charles and Louise (Wandt) Sohn. She was married to Robert L. Spangler, on May 1, 1938. She taught school for 27 1⁄2 years at Buckskin School, Noble Township, Brunersburg, and Northeast Local Tinora Junior High. She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Spangler of Maui, Hawaii, and Jerry L. Spangler, Longmont, Colo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents,and her sister, Juanita Hasselschwert.
She had memberships at St. John's Lutheran Church, Defiance County Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers associations.
There will be no service at this time as the body has been donated to the Colorado State Anatomical Board. Graveside services for the family will take place later.
Preferred memorials include St. John's Lutheran Church, Fort Defiance Humane Society or Defiance County Hospice.
