PAULDING -- Thelma A. Hill, 98, Paulding, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center, Defiance.
She was born in Briceton, Ohio, on July 27, 1914, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Blake) Martin. On June 6, 1931, she married Waveland C. Hill, who preceded her in death on December 22, 1941. She was a former deputy treasurer for Paulding County. She was a member of the Paulding United Methodist Church. She worked for the Paulding County Board of Elections. She was the charter president of the Paulding County Professional and Business Club. She owned and operated Hill's Confectionary for four years and the H&R Dress Shop for 17 years.
Surviving are two sons, Russell Hill of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Paul (Margie) Hill of Paulding, Ohio; a daughter, Louella (Loren) Thomas of Paulding, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Joni (Larry) Brown, Mindy (Brad) Stevens, Julie (Don) Lauer, Brenda (Jerry) Smith, Terri (John) Coulon, Laurie Hill, Kim (Ron) Garrity, Pam (Chet) Moore and Jerry (Rachel) Thomas; and nine great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Edna Ampsbaugh, Ilo Rothenhofer and Erma Martin; one grandson, David Hill; two granddaughters, Wave Jean Colley and Judith Kay Thomas; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara (Brown) Hill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February, 14, 2013, at the Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Pastor Ben Lowell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding, Ohio. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Den Herder Funeral Home from 3-8 p.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday until service time.
