ARCHBOLD -- Cara B. Rettig, 89, of Archbold, passed away Saturday morning, January 26, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

She was born April 17, 1923, in Fulton County, the daughter of Harry and Mattie (Short) Lauber. She married William "Bill" Rettig Jr. on May 30, 1943, in Salinas, Calif., during World War II, and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2012. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she was a homemaker and a rural mail carrier for the Archbold Post Office. She enjoyed her family and friends and was a supporter of her children and grandchildren in school activities. She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Archbold.

She is survived by two children, Stephen (Kathryn) Rettig and Stephanie (Jerry) King, both of Archbold; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ione "Tiny" (Edward) McMillin of Winter Park, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Harry "Glen" Lauber; and a sister, Catherine Keim.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Martin's Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Reichert officiating. Private interment will precede in the Archbold Cemetery.
