Dean Alan Suman, 46, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the University of Toledo Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 17, 1966, to Jack and Anita (Smith) Suman in Kenton, Ohio. On July 18, 1992, he married Michelle Adams in Paulding, Ohio. Dean and Michelle were high school sweethearts and would have been together 30 years on February 4, 2013. Dean worked at General Motors since 2007, originally starting at the foundry in Defiance and later transferring to the assembly plant in Fort Wayne. He was also owner of Dino's Drive Thru for five years and a member of the Defiance Eagles and an associate member of the VFW. He was an avid Packers fan, Defiance Bulldogs fan, and he loved watching his children play various sports as well as coaching them in their younger years. Dean was also known to give family and friends nicknames, which they will always hold close to their hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Jacob "Jake" Suman; daughter, Jessica "Jess" Suman; parents, Jack D. and Anita (Smith) Suman of Defiance; brother, Rusty "Ruck" (Teresa "Mama") Suman of Muskegon, Mich.; and sister, Jennifer (Michael) Jacob of Defiance; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013, at the Defiance Church of the Nazarene with Richard A. Suman officiating. Burial will follow at Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
