WAUSEON -- Joyce L. Nafziger, age 61 years, of Wauseon, passed away Friday morning, January 18, 2013, in her home following a nine-year courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 15, 1952, in Wauseon, the daughter of Ralph and Patricia (Chittenden) Link. She married George W. Nafziger on March 22, 1975, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2003. A 1969 graduate of Evergreen High School, she received her BA in 1973 from Goshen IN, College, and her Masters in Education from BGSU in 1991. She was an elementary school teacher at Montpelier from 1973-1977 and a reading teacher at Archbold Elementary School from 1991-2004. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and reading. She was a member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church near Pettisville.
She is survived by four children, Eric (Sarah) Nafziger and Ryan (Melissa) Nafziger, both of Archbold, Jena (Jesse) Kaufman of Wakefield, NE, and Joyclyn Nafziger of Wauseon; six grandchildren; her mother, Pat Andrews of Wauseon; two brothers, Gary (Lorene) Link of Morgantown, IN and Dave (Michelle) Link of Bellefontaine; a sister, Julie (Dave) Gugel of Wauseon; three step-brothers, Ron (Roberta) Rupp of Paris, TX, A.J. (Linda) Rupp of Fort Wayne, IN, and Ed (Linda) Rupp of Lyons; and a stepsister, Nancy (Randy) Becker of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by her father; two step-fathers, Glenn Rupp and Charles Andrews Jr.; and her husband.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the West Clinton Mennonite Church with Pastors Tim Lehman and Dale Wyse officiating. Interment will precede in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call at the West Clinton Fellowship Hall from 2-8 p.m. on Monday.
