NAPOLEON -- Roger M. McGinnis, 86, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Henry County Hospital.

He was born April 4, 1926, in Hardin County, Ohio, the son of Thelma Bailey. On August 25, 1951, he married Patsy R. Wortman, who survives of Napoleon. Roger was an Ohio State Highway patrolman, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Ohio Highway Patrol pistol team and in 1969 was the state's pistol champion. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Napoleon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving also are one son, Gregory (Mary) McGinnis, Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Sandra Kay (John) Nickell of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Susan Elizabeth (Mark) Allen, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, Gary Eugene McGinnis.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Emanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. James Castello officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the joint veteran posts of Napoleon. Interment will be made in Rochester Cemetery, Paulding County, Ohio. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 810 Scott St., Napoleon, Ohio 43545; or Grahams Foundation (supporting parents of preemies), 103 North River Road, Waterville, Ohio 43566.
