ARCHBOLD -- Jeanne M. Stamm, 85, of Archbold, passed away early Thursday morning, January 10, 2013, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
She was born June 24, 1927, near Portland, Ind., the daughter of Marion and Lodeema (Gee) Foust. She married Denver Stamm on January 11, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1999. A resident of the West Unity/Archbold area many years, she, with her husband, owned and operated the former Tri-State Elevator in Elmira for 40-plus years, where she was the office manager. Family was everything to Jeanne. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and especially looked forward to visits by her great-grandchildren. She loved cooking, shopping, and enjoyed helping compile recipes for three cookbooks. She was a member of Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
She is survived by three children, Mark (Sue) Stamm and Tina (Stephen) Lange, both of Archbold, and Tana (Jeff) Sauder of New Port Richey, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Mark (Cara) Stamm II, Mike (Kristen) Stamm, Allison (Andy) Bentley, Samantha Stamm, Andrea (Chris) Short, Haley Sauder, Adrianne (Trey) Smith and Chase Sauder; eight great-grandchildren, Sidney Stamm, Cece Stamm, Ty Stamm, Kaydee Stamm, Cayman Stamm, Kobe Stamm, Anderson Bentley and Adelle Bentley; two brothers, David (Karen) Foust of Bryan, and Thomas (Becky) Foust of Montpelier; and a sister, Gloria "Dood" Nagel of West Unity.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, John Ferguson and Marion E. Foust; and a sister, Anna Mae Martin.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Lockport Mennonite Church, with Pastor Steven Heatwole officiating. Interment will precede in the Lockport Cemetery. Friends may call at Lockport Mennonite Church from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.
