ARCHBOLD -- Ruth L. Roth, 100, of Archbold, passed away Christmas Day, 2012, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.
She was born June 22, 1912, near Archbold, the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Valiton) Short. She married Dennis Roth on September 5, 1934, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1998. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she worked at Yoder & Frey Tractor Cushions, sold advertising for the Farmland News where she was responsible for the contents of the Woman's Page, Four County Career Center cafeteria, and Sauder Village Café. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. After retiring, Ruth and Denny wintered in Florida for many years. During the summers they enjoyed working at Sauder Farm and Craft Village. She was a faithful member of the Archbold Evangelical Church and very active in the Ladies Aid Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Roth of Naples, Fla., and Carol (Charles) Lawrence of Archbold; three grandchildren, Sarah, David, and Heather; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Meadow; one brother, Paul R. (Josephine) Short of Archbold; and one sister, Pauline Short of Archbold.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Olen Short; and one sister, Louise Beck.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 11 a.m. at the Archbold Evangelical Church with Pastor Jesse Kahler officiating. Interment will precede in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call in the Fireside Room at the church from 4-8 p.m. on Friday. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.
