Larry Williams


SHERWOOD -- Larry C. Williams, 63, of Sherwood, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012, in his residence with his family at his side.

Larry was born March 9, 1949, in Clintwood, Virginia, to Cecil and Virginia (McCowan) Williams. He married Laneta M. "Linny" Elkins on June 26, 1971, in Payne, Ohio. Larry was a self-employed carpenter for 40 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Sherwood Volunteer Fire Department where he attained the rank of captain. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, picking mushrooms and wild black raspberries which he made into jelly. He also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Linny of Sherwood; three children, Larry I. (Karla) Williams of Sherwood, April L. (Darrel) Rock of Sherwood, and Misty M. (Frank) Boardwine of Sherwood; 11 grandchildren, Kolbie (Brooke Goldsmith) Wirth of Sherwood, Kali Wirth and Korie Wirth, both of Sherwood, Frank Boardwine of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Elizabeth (Bryan Cummings) Boardwine of LaGrange, Ohio, Josh (Enisa) Boardwine of Washington D.C., Adam Rock of Sherwood and Bryar, Breaven, Brody and Brady Williams of Sherwood; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lonnie (Mary) Williams of Sherwood, Carter Williams of Jonesville, Virginia, and Randall (Carole Cox) Williams of Duffield, Virginia; one sister, Wanda "Denise" (Jerry) Brown of Sherwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Shawn Antoine; and his sister, Barbara Woodring.

Funeral services for Larry C. Williams will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, in the Delaware Township Fire Station, 10023 The Bend Road, Defiance, Ohio 43512, (at the intersection of Ohio 18 and The Bend Road) Defiance, with Pastor Jack Hierholzer officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Delaware Township Fire Station on Monday, December 17, 2012, beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until the time of the services which beginning at 7 p.m. Monday evening. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio 43556.
