Hazel Yaros

Hazel M. Yaros, 83, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

She was born on October 16, 1929, to Elmer and Della Mae (Doman) Mounts in Buffalo Township, Pa. She married Robert E. "Bob" Yaros on April 29, 1951, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Robert F. "Bob" (Kathy) Yaros of Toledo, Ohio, and Steven A. (Janet) Yaros of Defiance, Ohio; grandchildren, Michelle (Shawn) Gray of Charlotte, N.C., Stacey (Ben) Bigelow of Toledo, Ohio, Anthony (Tevie) Yaros of Butler, Ind., Robert L. Yaros of Toledo, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Harry E. (Marian) Mounts of Washington, Pa.; and a sister, Betty Powell of Claysville, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Ann Yaros; brothers, M. Abe Mounts and Leo Mounts; and sisters, E. Irene Davidson, Ida Caldwell, Lucille Barney and an infant sister.

Hazel was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the VFW Post 3360 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Montgomery Ward and JCPenney in Pennsylvania. Upon moving to Defiance she began a career with the Defiance Hospital in the pharmacy department before moving into the billing department, retiring in 1995.

Visitation will be held today, December 6, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Friday, December 7, 2012, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. A vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. today. A funeral mass will be held Friday, December 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery.
