OAKWOOD -- Betty Mae Donaldson, 71, of rural Oakwood, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, in her home.

She was born to Thomas and Anna Fay (Campbell) Pumphrey on June 1, 1941, in "Almost Heaven" Weston, West Virginia. On Dec. 10, 1956, she married Dorsey "Shorty" Donaldson, who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2003. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Rick (Barbara) DeSota.

Betty was an active member of the Church of the Brethren, Defiance, and on the witness committee. She was a former member of the Centenary Church of Oakwood where she helped with Vacation Bible School. Betty enjoyed canning anything she could get her hands on and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara DeSota of Continental; sister, Oleta Hasselschwert of Defiance; brothers, Roger Pumphrey of Wooster, Ohio, Bud Pumphrey of Massillon, Ohio, and Frank Pumphrey of Clarksburg, W.Va.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, Daniel (Misty) DeSota, Rich (Heidi) DeSota and Ron DeSota, all of Defiance; three great-grandchildren; and a special nephew and niece, Tom and Lynn Hitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance, at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 12, with Rev. Gene Yenser officiating. Visitation is Monday from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.
