COLUMBUS - As part of an ongoing effort to recognize the impact of Ohio businesses, Secretary of State Jon Husted today announced the companies being featured as part of the Secretary of State's Ohio Business Profile for October.
Among the companies profiled this month is Spangler Candy Co. of Bryan. Spangler's manufactures candy including lollipops, candy canes and marshmallow circus peanuts.
Also profiled are: Sugardaddy's Sumptuous Sweeties in Lewis Center; Cake in a Cup in Toledo, Boyd's Retro Candy Store in Toledo; and Rittman Orchards and Farm Market in Doylestown.
The Ohio Business Profile was created "to raise awareness about companies registered and doing business in Ohio that are creating interesting products, offering outstanding service, contributing to their local communities and employing Ohioans in the process."
Any Ohioan may submit the names of companies they feel deserve recognition to be considered to the Scretary of State's office.
Acquired: Eagle Machinery Portage, Ohio has been acquired by Archbold Equipment Co., a stockholder owned company with the main office in Archbold. Eagle Machinery began operations as Archbold Equipment Co. as of Oct. 7.
Archbold Equipment Co. chief executive officer Gary Schumacher states that he is extremely pleased to be able to maintain the employees, location, and most of the present manufacturing lines that Eagle Machinery represented the past 20 years. Schumacher states that "these types of mergers are an integral part of Archbold Equipment Co. business strategy to grow in a systematic way. This growth will result in improved purchasing power and long term support for Northwest Ohio customers, who are looking for a long term business partner for all your agricultural needs".
Although many positive changes are planned, Schumacher states "Brad Nafziger has been promoted to sales manager and will lead the staff at the Portage location".
Archbold Equipment Co. was established in 1965. Archbold Equipment Co. has locations in Archbold, Sherwood, Ottawa, Topeka, Ind., Adrian, Mich., and now Portage.

Part of Microsoft: Internet video chat service Skype is now officially a part of Microsoft.
The two companies joined forces late Thursday when Microsoft Corp. completed its $8.5 billion purchase of Skype. The closing came five months after Microsoft announced the deal.
Microsoft is counting on Skype to help it catch up in some the hottest markets in technology and media. Those areas include online socializing, mobile phones and digital video.
