Nebraska signs Ohio high school star Theriot

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- Nebraska women's basketball coach Connie Yori has announced the signing of Ohio high school star Rachel Theriot (TERRY-oh) to a national letter of intent.

The 6-foot point guard from Midpark High School in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, is a two-time all-state performer. Theriot averaged 13 points, nine assists, five rebounds and more than three steals a game as a junior.

Yori said Wednesday that Theriot can play both the point and shooting guard. The coach said Theriot is versatile, with the ability to drive to the basket, shoot off the dribble and hit 3-pointers. Yori said Theriot also is a solid defender and rebounder.

Theriot chose Nebraska over other Big Ten schools like Ohio State, Illinois and Michigan State.
