The Defiance County Master Gardeners held their annual recognition banquet on Thursday, Nov., 29, 2012 at the Defiance County Emergency Management Building in Brunersburg. Thirty members and guests were present. Extension educator, Bruce Clevenger, presented the group with some yearly facts. The Defiance County Master Gardeners have completed a total of 1,973 community service of volunteer hours and 588 hours of advanced training hours for the year of 2012. the Master Gardeners were thanked for their volunteerism in the county.
The past officers were recognized. These included Orville Clark - president, Penny Diehl- secretary, Linda Maag - treasurer, and historian - Diane Perkins. The new slate of officers was introduced: Orville Clark - president, Jamie Walters - president-elect, Penny Diehl - secretary, Linda Maag - treasurer, and Kay Winnie - historian.
Jamie Walters and Rosalie Rosebrock were presented certificates, 50 hr. pins, and name badges for completing the certification process of becoming certified master gardeners. They are part of the 2012 master gardener class.
Other master gardeners receiving awards were: Charlene Finch - 250 hr. pin, Linda Bennett - 500 hr. pin, Tammy Bowers - 500 hr. pin, Rose Tadsen - 500 hr. pin, Jane Clark - 1,500 hr. pin, Orville Clark - 1,500 hr. pin, and Norm Tadsen - 1,500 hr. pin.
Door prizes were won by Linda Maag, Richard English, Gwen Anderson, Dave Parker, Dwyn Lichty, Nancy DeTray, Rosalie Rosebrock, Jane Clark, Linda Hoffman, and Orville Clark.
