COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio school district has fired a veteran bus driver accused of choking a third-grade special-needs student as she was driving the girl home.
A spokesman for the Columbus school district says the district on Thursday fired the driver on a district charge of malfeasance for inappropriate contact with a student.
Spokesman Jeff Warner says a surveillance system recorded the encounter between 59-year-old Laura Roberson and the 9-year-old student she was driving from school on Tuesday.
Roberson did not immediately return calls to her Canal Winchester home.
The district held a hearing Thursday before dismissing the driver.
Warner says it is not clear what led to the encounter. He did not know whether any criminal charges had been filed.
Police did not immediately return calls.
