3 in running to be Bismarck's next police chief

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Three finalists remain in the running for the police chief position in North Dakota's capital city.

The three who will be interviewed by the Bismarck City Commission on April 16 include Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler. The other two are Rex Marks, captain of the Grass Valley Police Department in California; Michael McNeely, police chief in Bath Township, Ohio. Two other finalists, from Hawaii and Iowa, withdrew their applications.

The three remaining finalists also will be put through an exercise designed to assess their leadership and management skills.

Bismarck is seeking a successor to Chief Keith Witt, who is retiring in the spring.
