Juvenile Ohio jail escapees quickly recaptured

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say a trio of juvenile detainees who allegedly beat a jailer to escape from their western Ohio lock-up have been recaptured.

Columbus police arrested 17-year-old Caleb Jacobs Wednesday afternoon, about an hour after Cincinnati police arrested Danny Ellis Jr. and Devante Smith, both 15.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/wy7qY4 ) the three now face charges of felonious assault, assault, escape and aggravated rioting in addition to the juvenile charges that landed them in Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.

The newspaper says police have also arrested two adult women accused of helping the boys escape.

Logan County sheriff's deputy Tim Klingelhofer was treated at a hospital and released for injuries the jail commander says were caused when the boys jumped him and punched him repeatedly in the head.
