Report sheds light on NW Ohio fire where man died

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- A new report from Toledo firefighters offers details about the response to a blaze at an apartment building where a man was found dead after the complex was demolished.

The Blade in Toledo (http://bit.ly/ySGkxF ) reports a 35-year-old man was found in the rubble a day after the January fire. A coroner's office ruled his death from smoke inhalation was an accident.

The report says a firefighter who entered the man's apartment couldn't see because it was dark and did not search more thoroughly because residents had told crews that everyone was out of the building. Firefighters were asked to check the possibility that one person was still in an apartment, but it wasn't the victim's apartment that they were asked to search.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.
