NEW YORK (AP) -- Comments on the San Diego Chargers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
___
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (21)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 19) -- Eleven sacks and Antonio Gates passing Lance Alworth in team touchdown receiving annals.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 20) -- The real action for this franchise will start after Week 17.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 21)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 19) -- AJ Smith's stubbornness has hurt this organization, change is coming.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 21) -- One more week until the Norv Turner era is over. At least he can take some comfort from a solid road win against the Jets.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 22) -- Hard to believe an offense with Philip Rivers at the helm could rank 29th in the NFL. Believe it -- offense has been one of many flat tires for the Chargers in 2012.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 22) -- Another late-season rush by Norv Turner ... only this time it's about a month-and-a-half too late.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 20) -- When Norv Turner walks off the field Sunday, it will be an emotional moment.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 21) -- The Chargers are in the conversation when the term underachiever is used. That being said, I could make the case the talent is overrated and there is a rebuilding process on the horizon.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 21)
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 22) -- Scrap-heap wide receiver Danario Alexander (36 catches for 624 yards and six touchdowns) is this year's version of Laurent Robinson.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 24) -- They are playing their best football of the season when it's too late to matter.
